Kristy Burge, Music Director |
Kristy was raised in Blue Springs by her faith-filled family. Her first musical experiences were in worship at church where she sang and played various instruments. Kristy attended the University of Missouri-Columbia from 1996-2001 where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance. She studied at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA before returning to MU to finish her Master of Music degree in vocal performance in May of 2005. Kristy privately studied piano for 12 years and studied at the university level for 2 years. Kristy was asked to be the pianist and choir director at Good Shepherd in the summer of 2001. After returning from Boston she was pleased to take the position once again in September of 2002. In the fall Kristy is currently a doctoral student at the UMKC Conservatory, an adjunct teacher at a Avila University, and a private voice and piano instructor. "I think that worship through music is a powerful experience and I believe that God called me to express my faith through music. I strive to follow wherever the Lord leads me in Good Shepherd's music ministry, a ministry that He has been preparing me for throughout my life. God's music has given me strength and assurance in times of struggle. My family, especially my Dad, reassured me that God would provide and take care of us in this life, and that eternal life was our reward if we believe. God gave me the gift of music that I am continually grateful for and a life in which Christ has been the center. I am truly blessed and my faith continues to grow stronger at Good Shepherd Christian Church." Kristy feels blessed to be an honorary member of the Good Shepherd family. |
